Charleston Real Estate Owners Receive Excellence In Education

The last couple of decades of growth throughout Charleston, South Carolina have been accompanied by a change in attitude toward public education. This sea-change has been fueled, in part, by an influx of locals and owners of Charleston real estate rolling up their sleeves and getting involved on a local level to help improve the quality of Charleston education in public schools, particularly those in South Carolina's poorest rural schools. As a result, a number of points of excellence have cropped up across the state, many in the Charleston SC area.

The Charleston County School System has made great strides over the last decade to ensure quality public education for all Charleston children, grades kindergarten through 12. A massive building program is underway to replace outdated facilities, and standards for teacher and student performance have been raised in Charleston and South Carolina.

Even as the Charleston school board works to improve public schools across Charleston County, Charleston's opportunities for higher education are in a constant state of expansion. The area of Charleston SC is home to College of Charleston, the oldest institution of higher education in South Carolina; The Citadel, the military college of South Carolina; and Charleston South University, the first church-affiliated university in Charleston. In addition, there are several Charleston schools that offer technical and professional degrees, including the Trident Technical College, the American College of the Building Arts and the Art Institute of Charleston.

Founded in 1824, the Medical University of South Carolina expanded from a small private college for training physicians to a state university with a medical center and six colleges for the education of a broad range of health professionals, biomedical scientists and other health-related personnel. Today, MUSC sits in the center of a medical complex that lies at the heart of the Charleston peninsula, providing the finest medical care available in the Southeast.

Charleston SC's newest campus, the Charleston School of Law, offers graduate students the opportunity to study the time-honored practice of law amid the beauty and grace of one of the South’s oldest and most prestigious cities. Tracing its origins to the 1825 formation of The Forensic Club, the Charleston School of Law is reinvigorating the study of law in Charleston by offering a rich, comprehensive three-year program rooted in excellence.

Continuing education is popular with newcomers to the Charleston real estate market, where classes attract those who wish to develop an old hobby into a new profession. Adults can take advantage of The Citadel’s College of Graduate and Professional Studies, which offers evening and summer, coeducational undergraduate and graduate degree programs. And Trident Technical College continuing education opportunities allow locals and owners of Charleston SC real estate to keep up-to-date in their fields, embark on new career paths, or learn for the joy of personal enrichment.  //
